January 2005 Real Estate Statistics

The Dallas/Fort Worth MLS recorded almost 4,300 sales (single family, condos, and townhouses) during January. The volume of single family homes sold was down 6% from the same time last year, but condos and townhouses were up a solid 16%.

There were over 42,000 active listings (single family, condos, and townhouses) in this period; up 9% for single family, and 16% for condos and townhouses as compared to a year ago.

Aside from the statistics, in traveling around the Metroplex there seems to be a greater number of finished new homes compared to last year. Some of the builders appear to have inflated inventories; this could be a good time to buy a new home.
